Welcome to Friends of Parish School
Who are we?
We're you! Every parent and carer at the school automatically becomes a member of FOPS when their child joins the school, so if you're new to the school, welcome on board!
The work of FOPS is overseen by a committee, which is appointed at the AGM each September/October. We're a very friendly group of parents and carers who dedicate time to helping to organise a fun programme of events for the children to enjoy, while creating a sense of community and raising much-needed funds for the school.
As well as organising a packed programme of fundraising events, we're always looking for new ways to bring more parents and carers together, and to make school life just a little bit easier and more enjoyable for everyone - for example, through some free events and second-hand uniform sales.
How can you get involved?
2020 is proving to be a unique year due to COVID-19. Fundraising for our wonderful school has never been more important, but we understand that for many families finances will be tighter than ever. Further, the vast majority of our fundraising comes from events like our popular Christmas and Summer Fairs, and our fantastic fireworks display which unfortunately, due to the pandemic, will either be cancelled or else look very different from how they normally do. We're not giving up - we're thinking hard about how we can help the school community and put on fun activities for the children and their families, while keeping everyone safe. Please bear with us - even better, if you have any ideas, get in touch!
Where does the money go?
2019/20 was a highly unusual year due to Covid-19. Despite the inevitable disruption to our fundraising events, we still managed to raise over £15,000, of which £10,000 of that has already been spent on a new computer for each of our 21 classrooms.
In 2018/19, funds raised by FOPS paid for:
- Astro-turfing the new quiet area (£16,300)
- Mathletics (£3200)
- PE equipment (£2400)
- Free events for the children, eg Easter Egg hunt, school disco (£1100)
- Classroom essentials for each class (£1050)
- Early years equipment (£1000)
- Books (£940)
- Forest school equipment (£630)
- Author visit during World Book Week (£500)
- Hi vis vests for pupils (£350)
- School Christmas tree (£95)
