School Improvement Priorities

MAIN OUTLINES FOR 2019-2020

AT PARISH WE ARE CONTINUALLY STRIVING TO RAISE OUR STANDARDS AND PROVISION AS WELL AS PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP OUR STAFF AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY.  IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THIS YEAR WE HAVE SET THE FOLLOWING MAIN PRIORITIES:

DEVELOP CURRICULUM TO REFLECT BOTH OUR OWN ETHOS, VISION AND VALUES AND THOSE OF THE TRUST. 
  • Develop ethos and vision that reflects whole school community and plans for now and the future.
  • Ensure all pupils, staff, parents and carers feel part of the school vision and uphold the school’s ethos.
  • Ensure all staff can demonstrate the ways in which the curriculum is designed to realise educational beliefs and strategy.
  • Continue to develop progression models, within subjects and across the curriculum, which provide all pupils with secure, systematic and cumulative knowledge acquisition, which leads to a deep body of transferable knowledge.
  • Ensure pupils, parents and teachers have a clear understanding of the knowledge and skills all pupils are expected to acquire at each stage of their learning journey and how this is exhibited at each national curriculum endpoint.
  • Develop knowledge of ideas and concepts across all subjects so that pupils have the skills to make connections, solve problems, utilise knowledge and develop reasoned argument and thought.
  • Sequence learning effectively to build on what has been learnt previously, embed key concepts, develop long term memory and enable pupils to fluently apply knowledge as skills.
IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR VULNERABLE LEARNERS THROUGH STRONG LEADERSHIP AND COLLABORATION. 
  • Further develop inclusion leadership to provide bespoke support for all pupils.
  • Widen the sphere of influence of strong practitioners in the school to maximize progress.
  • Develop strategy for learners with SEND, EAL and those who are disadvantaged.
  • Meet the needs of disadvantaged pupils utilising collaboration between academies.
  • Enhance information, advice and guidance to raise ambition for all learners (linked also with Objective 3 CPD).
  • Carry out research project on disadvantaged pupils/financial audit.
  • Take full advantage off and work in collaboration with Trailblazers project to maximise opportunities for children with Mental Health needs leading to improved outcomes academically and emotionally.
DEVELOP A STABLE AND HIGHLY EFFECTIVE COMMUNITY OF LEADERS AND CLASSROOM PRACTITIONERS.
  • Implement new leadership structure aligned to school needs and new curriculum focus.
  • Restructure teams to ensure succession planning, and career development in addition to sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Develop school CPD programme to include twilights linked to SIP, self-study units and conferences.
  • Continue to develop leaders through networking with other academies and outside organisations.
  • Sign post relevant staff to national professional qualifications.
  • Utilise speciality teachers (within allocated budget) to provide CPD and improve outcomes for children in all curriculum areas.
  • Carry out pedagogy research project to develop and improve classroom practice for all staff. 
  • Provide coaching and mentoring from DHT/TIP.
